The Fellowship Information Booklet is carefully built to help answer some of the questions that candidates often ask our team. Please take your time to read carefully before applying for this Fellowship program.
1. What is a Young African Professional Fellowship?
The Young African Professional Fellowship is one of the flagship programs of GAICAM for young Africans, designed to strengthen the capacities of young professionals for the world of work. It is an excellent journey of true professionalism where young professionals are equipped with highly essential professional skills for today’s workplace.
2. Who is eligible to participate in the program?
To participate in the Young African Professional Fellowship,
- You have to be a Young Africans between 18 and 40 years old.
- Be a graduate or University student
- Be bilingual or able to speak English.
- Currently employed or seeking to improve your professional skills for the world of work.
3. Is there any language requirement?
The working knowledge of the Fellowship is English and French. It is an important prerequisite for participation in the 2024 Fellowship for general communication purposes. Some facilitators may prefer to use either of the languages. It is therefore important for applicants to at least understand both languages. All application materials must be submitted in English or French.
4. What skills would I gain from participating in the program?
The program is carefully structured to help young professionals build some of the best and most highly sought-after skills. The program would engage you with other young professionals to share professional experiences and challenges, aimed at building your capacities for the world of work. 5. Are there other benefits not mentioned above?
You can be issued a fellowship transcript, which details the content of the training. This is only available on request, and it has a price tag.

7. Where will the fellowship program be hosted?
The 2024 edition of the Fellowship program has been scheduled to be held in the city of Buea, in the South West Region of Cameroon, from May 14 – 17, 2024.
8. Do the organizers provide accommodation?
GAICAM and partners are not responsible for the accommodation of participants.
9. Can organizers help me have a moderate hotel in Buea?
It is possible for the organizers to help you find a moderate hotel, but the charges are going to be on you.
10. Do the organizers provide food?
GAICAM and partners do not provide footwork during the course of the fellowship program. However, we provide snacks and water for participants.
11. What is the cost of participation?
The Young African Professional Fellowship is fully funded by GAICAM and Partners, covering expenses such as training, mentoring, and certification. However, there is a token registration fee of $26 (15.500xaf) which each admitted Fellow is required to pay to take part in the program.
12. What if I pay my registration fee and am unable to attend?
If you pay your registration fee and are unable to make it, you will be scheduled to attend the next edition of the program. NB: Before you register for this professional training, you have to be 100 percent sure to participate.
13. Do you issue participation certificates?
Yes, each participant who successfully completes the program is awarded the Fellowship Certificate.
14. Are the certificates digitalized?
The fellowship participation certificates are digitalized. The certificates can be accessed from any part of the world.
15. Dress Code
Dressing could be formal or informal, western or traditional, but we suggest that moderation in dressing should guide participants. We strongly advise against dressing in a manner that unduly exposes sensitive body parts at any level.
16. Special Dress Code
During the last day of each onsite phase of the fellowship, all participants are required to dress in their traditional local attire to promote cultural diversity and Africanism.

18. What is the fellowship timeline?
