The Installation of GAICAM Community Delegates
On Wednesday, March 20, 2024, GAICAM hosted an installation ceremony at the head office in Yaoundรฉ to install into function, some of the GAICAM Community Delegates who were recently appointed to represent GAICAM in their communities.
The ceremony had in attendance the Divisional Delegate of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, the board chair of the Cameroon Heroes Impact Awards, and other invited personalities.
The ceremony started with a word of prayer and the singing of Cameroonโs national anthem in both English and French, with Community Delegates attending from Bamenda, Buea, Limbe, Yaounde, Nkambe, Douala, and Loum.
The President and Director General of GAICAM, Mr. Taminang Search, gave an opening speech, acknowledging the presence of the different dignitaries present and the Community Delegates who came from different parts of Cameroon. He spoke about the importance of building strong relationships with the communities, which he believes can easily help in need identification, a concept that drove the introduction of Community Delegates in GAICAM. He equally took time to share a little about the journey of GAICAM and mission, with the aim of encouraging the delegates on their tasks in serving their communities.
The Community Delegates equally had the privilege to hear from Mr.GANA JOSEPH, the Chairperson of the Cameroon Heroes Impact Awards. He encouraged the Community Delegates on their engagement with their communities and regions and not on what their community and country have for them.
In the same light, the Divisional Delegate of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Civic Education, Mr. BELL JOCK, called them to be responsible in the discharge of their duty to their communities. He encouraged them to respect their environment, their engagement with their communities, constituted authorities, and humanity, and to build a strong relationship with their communities. He equally spoke about the law of July 9 about community volunteerism. We spoke about respecting their environment, constituted authorities, and others working with their communities.
The ceremony ended with the taking of a family photo after the Community Delegates were officially installed and presented their appointment letters, marking the beginning of their assignment to their various communities as GAICAM Community Delegates. The appointment letters defined their roles, responsibilities, and the expected outcome of their assignment to their communities.
The installation of GAICAM Community Delegates signifies a great step towards promoting diversity and community empowerment. By appointing these Community Delegates, we aim to strengthen relationships with our communities and create more community impact.
