Why we founded the GAICAM Children Christmas Party
Over the years, as we visited different vulnerable communities across Cameroon for the GAICAM No-Child Left Behind Project, we realized that thousands of children in most of these remote communities consider Christmas feasting to be a luxury due to extreme poverty. No food, no gifts, no tree to gather around, and, sadly, at times, no family members to share with during Christmas. More so, poverty has limited many parents and guardians from giving their children the opportunity to feast like other children during Christmas celebrations.
As such, and in line with the vision of not leaving any child behind, GAICAM decided to host annual children’s Christmas parties in remote communities where children consider such feasting periods to be a luxury, with the aim of giving these children the opportunity to celebrate and feel loved like every other child.
GAICAM created the GAICAM Annual Christmas Party, which is held annually and hosts different remote communities in Cameroon. The annual parties have, since their inception, greatly helped to impact and put smiles on the faces of over 15000 children, especially those who are orphans or from needy homes. It has encouraged and instilled in children the spirit of coexistence and sharing, and that they can share with others without necessarily knowing where they come from. It has brought hope to the hopeless and assurance to the needy that some people out there care about them.
The satisfaction of children at these annual Christmas parties could be seen in their smiles and excitement. GAICAM ensures that each child receives food and also arranges a Christmas gift for children who attend each party.
The current impact (milestones)
- The project has for the past five editions put smiles on the faces of over 15000 children, especially orphans and the needy, encouraging them on how to co-exist and share with others.
- It has put smiles on the faces of some parents who could not provide for their children; seeing their children happily celebrating with others without feeling abandoned.
- Again this project has brought hope to the hopeless and assurance to the needy; helping them know some people out there care about them.
- The project has equally helped in building the next generation of philanthropist; people who will find pleasure helping others, drawing from their experience on how they were been supported during feasting seasons not to feel abandoned.
Our Road Map
- To annually organize a minimum of 10 Christmas parties for children in remote communities
- Impact and put smiles on the faces of children, especially those from needy homes.
- Encouraged and instill in children, the spirit of coexistence and sharing, and that they can share with others without necessarily knowing where they come from.
- Give hope to the hopeless and assurance to the needy that some people out there care about them.
- Continue building the next generation philanthropist
